Captain Tony was a wonderful host explaining the history of the canals and the boat but also providing humor and nuance. The treats and coffee provided were great and being on a smaller boat was a unique experience compared to a larger tour. Would definitely recommend

Dave’s boat is beautiful and super comfortable. 12 max so nice that it’s intimate but fun to interact with others. Huge selection of drinks. Bonus to have a bathroom onboard. He was prompt and one of the most entertaining people I’ve met. Even though he does this all day every day, he exudes enthusiasm and genuineness. Five stars!

Captain Tony did a great job and had interesting historical and insider information for the tour. My kids (age 10 and 12) found it interesting as well!

The morning was awesome. Very calm and relaxing. Captain Dave was a great guide, I like that he has lots of sea navigation experience.

Great communication leading up to the trip. It was raining on and off the day of, so we were happy the boat was covered. Excellent guide and a very enjoyable experience despite the weather.

The small boat was clean and well appointed. The sugar bread and coffee was lovely and the tour was fantastic. We cruised past the zoo and had a chance to see many animals. The small group was intimate and casual. We loved it!

Captain Dave was such a highlight of our trip. The ship was so well furnished, renovated, and clean. And Dave was such a warm, positive guide that clearly enjoys sharing the Amsterdam he grew up in. We loved the details in the storytelling and accomodations on board. (And we clearly had the nicest, funnest ship on the canals!)

Book this canal cruise. This was so much fun. I knew I didn’t want to be on a canal cruise with a ton of people so I picked this one based on the old boat. I had no idea the amount of history behind it which made the journey extra special. Jan was an amazing captain. He was very educational and pointed out some great sights. Highly recommend this canal cruise.

Cruise with the King!! Capt Dave is the best!! He curated an experience our family will never forget. His knowledge of Amsterdam and great sense of humor kept the entire family engaged throughout our wonderful cruise. The boat is clean, comfortable and quite beautiful, not to mention loaded with plenty of drinks and snacks. My family is still talking about how great it was and we highly recommend taking a canal cruise with Capt Dave!!

Wonderful cruise with Dave We did the mid morning cruise on a Sunday. It was great! Dave is a native of Amsterdam and is informative and funny. We were 10 people in total and it was not crowded. The area where we met the boat was quieter than the Central area of Amsterdam. Lots of refreshments available (coffee, tea, wine etc.) and the sweet bread was very tasty. Would highly recommend Dave.

Best Canal Tour🚤 I’ve been on a canal boat tour before while in Amsterdam but, I had family members that had never been to Amsterdam with me and chose this boat tour(Captain Dave) This was the best experience ever. My family members are still talking about the great time we all had. It’s an old historic boat and the captain has a book about its history for everyone to see and you can purchase it if you’d like to. There’s snacks and drinks for free on board and blankets if it’s cold. The roof is closed if it’s cold and raining but if it’s sunny and warm the roof will be open. My family sat on the outside in the back of the boat and my teenage granddaughter and I sat inside. We were all happy. Do yourselves a favor and book this canal boat tour with Captain Dave. You won’t be disappointed 😊

AMAZING experience, it WILL be the highlight of your time in Amsterdam! We had such a great time on this tour, Captain Dave is great and we had a great time getting to know the other people on our tour. It was a wonderful way to see the city from a different perspective and go a bit off the beaten path. Its a much better deal than one of the bigger canal tours which are shorter, much larger groups, and less comfortable.

This was a wonderful addition to my stay in Amsterdam. I learned so much about the city from Jan, whose friendliness and sense of humor were much appreciated. I would suggest booking this canal cruise early in your visit because it will truly enhance how you see the city.

As we passed by all the commercialized canal tours, you could tell the riders were miserable! Beautiful morning on the canals Mornings cruising the canals truly are peaceful and I highly recommend waking up for it. Jan was the perfect host with interesting commentary that didn't overshadow the beautiful city. There were many interesting stories both about the city (John Adams!) and the people Jan knows who live there that added a lot of texture, local flavor and humor to the experience. Speaking of flavor, I'm craving dutch sugar bread again - what a nice treat while cruising. I would give six stars if I could because the tour was great but I feel like I need to add an extra star after Jan ran down the street to hand me my jacket that I had left behind. It's extremely clear that Captain Dave's tours are aiming for an delivering a top notch experience.

Wonderful early morning canal cruise We went on the morning canal cruise leaving at 8 am. What a perfect way to see Amsterdam while the canals are quiet and before other boats are on the water. We had Captain Tony, who was amazing: courteous and full of fascinating stories and knowledge about Amsterdam. The boat is beautiful - a historic small vessel that is so much more charming than the large tourist boats you see everywhere.

Captain Dave was superb! He had so many interesting stories and my children LOVED it. We had been on several boat tours in the Netherlands by the time we went on Dave’s. The kids were not excited about it until they saw the boat and spent 5 min with Dave at the wheel. He let our little ones sit at the wheel and guided them to drive the boat. It was so fun and engaging. Also he has great snacks and refreshments for you while on board. We lived our time and would go back tomorrow if we could!

Great Tour! Great experience! Jan gave our tour, and he was incredibly knowledgeable and funny! We went on this tour (90 minute) after being persuaded by our hotel concierge, and were glad we did.
