Wonderful cruise with Dave We did the mid morning cruise on a Sunday. It was great! Dave is a native of Amsterdam and is informative and funny. We were 10 people in total and it was not crowded. The area where we met the boat was quieter than the Central area of Amsterdam. Lots of refreshments available (coffee, tea, wine etc.) and the sweet bread was very tasty. Would highly recommend Dave.

This was a wonderful addition to my stay in Amsterdam. I learned so much about the city from Jan, whose friendliness and sense of humor were much appreciated. I would suggest booking this canal cruise early in your visit because it will truly enhance how you see the city.

Beautiful morning on the canals Mornings cruising the canals truly are peaceful and I highly recommend waking up for it. Jan was the perfect host with interesting commentary that didn't overshadow the beautiful city. There were many interesting stories both about the city (John Adams!) and the people Jan knows who live there that added a lot of texture, local flavor and humor to the experience. Speaking of flavor, I'm craving dutch sugar bread again - what a nice treat while cruising. I would give six stars if I could because the tour was great but I feel like I need to add an extra star after Jan ran down the street to hand me my jacket that I had left behind. It's extremely clear that Captain Dave's tours are aiming for an delivering a top notch experience.

Wonderful early morning canal cruise We went on the morning canal cruise leaving at 8 am. What a perfect way to see Amsterdam while the canals are quiet and before other boats are on the water. We had Captain Tony, who was amazing: courteous and full of fascinating stories and knowledge about Amsterdam. The boat is beautiful - a historic small vessel that is so much more charming than the large tourist boats you see everywhere.

Fun morning exploring the canals, engineering and architecture of the houses in Amsterdam. Captain Dave has 'dad jokes' for days and made the trip engaging. Highly recommend this over any other Cruise trip👌🏽

This is a great option for a canal tour. It is much more personable than the majority of boats that go out and leaving in the morning was great as it was quiet on the water. Captain Dave is also a wonderful personality and keeps things lively.

Captain Tony was a great Storyteller, we had a great experience taking the boat with him. The location was easy to find. Lots of drinks, coffee and cake was included in the price. It's also nice to be able to sit outside and take pictures when there is nice weather. I can recommend this trip and this boat, I think it looks more fun and more personal than the "normal" toursim boats you see everywhere. Also Tony's stories are a great memory for us and our kids. Highly recommended!

We had Captain Jan for our tour this morning. You can tell how much he loves Amsterdam and also how well he knows the city, which really added to our experience. Jan is an art historian which added a lot of interesting perspective to what he was telling us about the city.
The boat was very nice. Great for a small group and very comfortable.

Captain Dave gave us a lovely boat tour accompanied by great stories, amazing sugar bread, and tasty juices. The canal was very empty in the morning, making for a quiet ride. Highly recommend!

Our tour with Captain Tony was perfect! The tour was small allowing it to feel a bit more personal. The history and stories shared were exactly what we were hoping to learn and the history of boat itself was quite special. The early morning ride allowed the canals to be quieter and more serene and we enjoyed the drinks and bread provided. Would highly recommend this to anyone!

Me and my partner had a great start to our trip in Amsterdam with an early morning cruise, at 8am we were the only boat on the canal as Captain Dave said we would be, which made for beautiful views and a quiet start to the day. Captain Dave was very informative and friendly, and his maps were great at supplementing his information on Amsterdam. We loved the boat and the warm welcome of coffee and Dutch sweet bread. The cruise was personal and unique, and the toilet adds that extra level of comfort for your cruise. Thanks Captain Dave, we would definitely book again!

Worth your time to take the extra effort to make the 8 am, the canals are calm the birds sign and the coffee strong and sugar bread is excellent even better with butter

We had such a cozy, fun morning with Captain Dave cruising along the canals! It was such a peaceful ride on a rainy morning, and Dave kept it lighthearted and entertaining the whole way through. We loved hearing his stories and getting to know all about life in Amsterdam. Captain Dave thoughtfully prepared smoothies, coffee, tea, wine, and snacks, which was so sweet! We loved this incredible experience and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting!!

Captain Dave was amazing! We had such a wonderful time during our morning cruise and loved getting to learn more about the history of Amsterdam. The coffee and sugarcake were also great for a chilly morning. We would definitely book again!!

We took the 8am tour which was worth the early morning start. We had the canals to ourselves! Dave grew up in Amsterdam; his storytelling and local insights personalize the experience. The boat itself is gorgeous and a warm and dry place to view the city on an otherwise wet day. We recommend this experience without hesitation.

What a wonderful way to begin our first trip to Amsterdam. Full of snippets of the history of Amsterdam: the canals and the people. Our comfort and safety was obviously important, there were blankets if anyone felt cold, we didn’t, a history of the boat itself (fascinating) …. Plus wonderful naughty cake and coffee. Thank you so much for such a great tour.

This was one of the highlights of our brief time in Amsterdam. We really enjoyed Captain Dave's ability to weave history and humour throughout the scenic cruise while also sharing his own personal stories of his experiences as a born-and-raised local. The early morning was a lovely time to be on the water - would highly recommend!

Captain Dave’s morning cruise was outstanding. From the moment we walked on the boat, it was a relaxing experience. The boat was spacious, and we were treated to the drink of our choice. It felt informal and personal; like a friend was telling you their stories (not a script).
While Dave wasn’t our captain, we did have a chance to meet him before our cruise. He even remembered that I had mentioned we had Anne Frank tickets directly afterwards, and he said that the captain would drop us off nearby.

This experience was wonderful. It was nice to get the history and beauty of a canal tour with a smaller group. In addition, our host treated us with refreshments and a morning snack on board. Captain Jan was fantastic!

A must-do attraction to begin your adventure in Amsterdam! Captain Dave's canal cruise is a nice way to start the day!I took the earliest reservation, which is at 8am, and waited at the meetup spot half an hour early. I'm a real early bird, especially during vacation so I don't miss out on anything, but I would advise you not to worry if you think you'll be cutting it close.The boat didn't arrive until five minutes to the scheduled time, which also is good to note that you shouldn't expect the boat to be sitting there before 8am. I spent most of my free time searching for it, when I could've stayed at the empty part of the canal and waited patiently. So, if you consider taking this tour, remember that you will NOT see the boat early before your start time.Upon arrival, we were invited in by the actual Captain Dave! There are several hosts within the tour, and I was lucky enough to meet the founder. He introduced himself to us, and gave us a chance to introduce ourselves too. This could be a problem to guests who'd rather sit quietly and enjoy the view because throughout their over an hour journey, you will be talking with other passengers. If not, it's likely the Captain will check in with you to make sure you're having a good time.I did speak with people, but I was the only attendee from my reservation, which is probably why the Captain gave me a little more attention at certain points. While it wasn't necessary, as I'm comfortable sitting in silence, I did appreciate his efforts to keep me entertained.I took this cruise on my 1st full day in Amsterdam. I believe it provides a great overview of what the city has to offer on land & sea. I chose the earliest time too because less boats are in motion; so if you're looking for a peaceful, intimate setting to observe the area, then this is your best option.There is sweet bread offered, along with coffee, tea & orange juice. Not exactly filling for breakfast, but enough to keep your stomach from rumbling. It did taste good, and I caught myself refilling my glass with juice and my plate with bread & butter.Captain Dave had a vast amount of knowledge about the area, with things I would've never known about if I hadn't taken his tour. Without spoiling, some information ranged from where you could spot Old versus New Amsterdam, the history behind the buildings, and even how the boat is connected to royalty!The tour did last longer than anticipated, and we were done by around 9:30am, which was warned beforehand, but be wary in case you plan for any other events so they don't clash with the time.Ultimately, I found this to be a worthwhile experience and I'd recommend it to anyone visiting Amsterdam for the first time. Before you head into the most popularized parts of the city (AKA Red Light District) take a step back, relax, and appreciate the history that has been built around you.

What a pleasant morning tour! It was almost private and Dave had a delicious fresh orange juice, fresh cider and the best sugar cake waiting for us. The story of the boat itself was unique (pls check it on his bio) He made my day!

I have lived in this city for years and have been taken countless boats along the canals. So far Dave’s tour was definitely the best! Sunday morning when the streets were still quiet, then you can enjoy the real Amsterdam! Don’t miss it.

Go with Gus! We thoroughly enjoyed this scenic cruise with Gus. He was friendly, knowledgeable and made the experience very relaxing. We had a nice assortment of coffee, tea, juices, water and a smoothie mix on board. The wooden boat was beautiful and very comfortable. Much better than a larger tour boat. I highly recommend it!

Exceptiional Early morning light on the water was blissful with amusing anecdotes from Captain Gus and great refreshments as we quietly navigated the waking city. There is no better way to see this beautiful city.
