Much better than a big cruise A leisurely early morning cruise with Captain Tony. The captain was very friendly and knowledgeable about Amsterdam’s history. Saw lots of sights and plenty of interesting historical and current info. The old boat was beautiful and comfortable. Sugar bread and hot/cold drinks available. Would recommend to anyone.Tip - don’t worry if the boat isn’t at the meeting point. We were 10 mins early and the boat wasn’t there but arrived in time.

A small group historical canal boat tour. A great tour this morning with Captain Tony who was covering for Captain Dave. Tony lives nearby and took us for an enlightening tour manoeuvring through the narrow canals of the Jordaan, pointing out things we would otherwise have missed and has now given us a better perspective of the buildings of Amsterdam. He told us lots of stories and pointed out his usual eateries, one of which we then spent the afternoon sampling beer and watching the World go by. Dave, your beautiful boat was not harmed in any of the narrow turns. Glad I came across this gem of a tour.

We enjoyed doing this tour our first morning in Amsterdam! It made our whole trip that much better after this wonderful tour. We felt more connected to the city and loved knowing the history as we later walked the streets. It was a fantastic way to start our trip!

Wonderful historic boat and knowledgable captain! The morning canal tour with Jan as our captain was a highlight of our trip. The boat is so beautiful and historic, and perfect for a small tour of 10. Jan's knowledge of the city and canals was fantastic, and his stories about growing up there were also super interesting! The sweet bread and tea provided was delicious and perfect for a morning cruise. I highly recommend this tour!

This is a brilliant trip which I would recommend to anyone who wants to get a flavour of the life on the Amsterdam canals. Dave is an excellent captain and host who is clearly passionate about his job and enjoys sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm with everyone on board. He has a great sense of humour and makes everyone feel at ease. The fact that it is a small, beautiful boat means that the experience is more personalised. I have learnt so much about the canals and housing along them, and will look at the buildings differently from now on. Thank you Dave!

My husband and I had a great time on this boat tour! We did the really informational ones in the past and enjoyed it but much preferred this early morning cruise. It felt more like being in a friends living room (on the water) with gorgeous views, great sugar bread, and nice company. I would highly recommend this boat tour!

An excellent Canal cruise! We loved the morning cruise through the canals and Jon's knowledge of the history as well more current issues in Amsterdam. The boat was lovely as well as it's history and the sugar bread all the way from Friesland was delicious! We appreciated the other ideas of places to be sure to visit. Thank you Jon! (And Dave).

Seeing the city from the water is magical. I took the morning cruise and the city was just starting to move. Captain was fun and lively.

The highlight of our week in Amsterdam! I would highly recommend starting out your trip with this tour. Its a great way to learn some history of the city. Captain Dave is a knowledgeable storyteller and kept the group engaged. There is also something really magical about floating through the city early in the morning.

Exceeded all my expectations. The city is quiet and peaceful in the morning and this tour is a great way to start the day. I’m happy we chose to do a smaller boat tour rather than a large boat; it was much more personal, wonderful food and drink, and we had a great time with Captain Dave and the other guests. We only had a short time in Amsterdam and this was definitely the highlight.

Great canal cruise Great canal cruise - more expensive than the massive commercial tourist boats but well worth the extra money. Small group of 12 people and the captain (Dave),who is very informative and very funny. We booked the early morning cruise and had free tea/coffee/orange juice/water/beer etc as well as sugar bread. Lovely relaxing cruise with a local born and bred captain who knew the local area and its history really well. Beautiful boat too! Thank you

Excellent Experience Just fantastic. Capt. Dave is a wonderful host and took us around small canals that the bigger tour boats pushed on TripAdvisor can't reach. Beautiful boat, coffee and cake provided. Excellent value.

Our captain Tony was fantastic — connected personally with each of us, easy to listen to, told interesting stories, made the whole experience welcoming and enjoyable — the early start time was so unique, quiet and peaceful, the city just waking up — highly recommended.

Great morning cruise! The cruise with Captain Dave, a small group, a nice boat, and going down the canals early in the morning with no traffic was just awesome. The morning cruise is the way to go and loved the small group atmosphere.

We had a wonderful morning on the canal cruise with Captain Dave and the other guests on the boat! A little history lesson, a lot of humor and warmth, delightful provisions, exceptional boat with a storied past, a lot of local pro-tips from Dave, and though the children on the boat were not with us, it was fun to see him interact and involve them in the ride. Can't recommend this experience enough!

Would totally recommend! Jan was our captain and host for this brilliant boat tour. He was knowledgeable and full of interesting facts about the city he is proud of. He had funny stories to share and also deeply poignant and meaningful insights into the past and current culture. The boat is cosy and elegant with an interesting past itself..There were hot and cold drinks and nice snacks to indulge in. The early tour was great to go on and set us up with recommendations for alternative places to visit afterwards.We're so glad we chose this tour. Thanks Jan

The absolute best canal trip in Amsterdam! The absolute best experience, and one my family will remember for years to come! The morning is the best way to experience the canal trip and the boat is absolutely beautiful. We were grateful to have such a warm, friendly and informative guide in Jan.

The 8am cruise is a wonderful way to start the morning in Amsterdam. Tony was a great guide with stories, facts and history. We thoroughly enjoyed the cruise, worth the early morning wake up time.

Excellent early morning tour This was an excellent experience. Going early in the morning, we had the canals to ourselves. Our guide was excellent. We learned a lot about the history of Amsterdam and the canals. The boat was cozy, quiet and very attractive.

We had a different pilot than captain dave. Unfortunately I cannot remember his name. But the tour was great, coffee and bathroom were nice additions.

Amazing experience! I would give this experience a 6 out of 5 stars if I could. It is a great way to start your trip and familiarize yourself with the city! Unfortunately I don’t know how to spell the Tour guides name, it was a nice man who works with Dave. The tour was elegant but not stiff. The music was perfect. We did a morning tour and there was only 9 people total on the boat. Great coffee and treats. The knowledge and recommendations alone are worth going on the tour. It was a beautiful experience. ( I loved the partially enclosed boat, because you can still see everything yet you stay warm in the chill morning).

The boat trip was amazing. It started right on time, and the Capitan managed the trip beautifully with amazing storytelling, jokes and insights. The calmness of the morning just added to the experience. Would recommend 10/10

We had a lovely time on Captain Dave’s boat cruising the canals and hearing stories about the building and the city of Amsterdam and its history. There was cake and coffee to add to the fun and laughter. Amazing way to spend the morning - highly recommend!

Incredible experience for our family on the boat with Captain Dave! One of a kind trip on the canals of Amsterdam on the most beautiful & historic boat! Having an early start time made for a quiet and calm ride on the canals. Dave is an exceptional story teller and makes connections with all participants! Having sweet bread and a variety of drinks made it extra special! Highly recommended!

Simply loved the experience. Captain Dave is so entertaining with his humor filled stories. Learnt a lot about the canals of Amsterdam. Went with our kids 7 and 12 and they got to independently steer the boat! He was also very flexible and accommodative. My husband who came with us could not stay the last 30 mins of the tour because he had to take an urgent work call and captain Dave supported our ask to drop off my husband early at a convenient location so he could get off earlier and attend his meeting. The boat is very comfortable and clean, and captain Dave offered drinks and snacks as well. Highly recommend!

Jan, hope I spelled it correctly, was awesome! Very entertaining while also giving us a great history of Amsterdam. Would do it all over again. Definitely recommend the early cruise as the canals were so peaceful.

Captain Dave and Tony DELIVER!!! Captain Tony was an amazing local guide. Born in Amsterdam. The boat is beautiful and comfortable, definitely the best place To be on a rainy day. Coffee, tea, and sugar bread were lovely. You can't do better.

This canal cruise was exceptional! Gliding through the early morning quiet in a beautiful old boat and watching the city slowly waking up was wonderful. Our Captain was so knowledgeable about Amsterdam’s history. He shared architectural and anecdotal stories that were lively and interesting. Definitely a highlight of my first visit to this interesting and lovely city.

Our experience was top notch. It wasn’t Dave but our personal blonde hair Dutch captain was wonderful. We have already recommended this tour to other tourists. The coffee and sweet bread was an added bonus. It was great all around. Much thanks.

The morning treat of sugar bread! This was far above expectations! Klaus was wonderful and he dealt with our crazy group of 8 with great patience. We learned a lot on the tour and having the tea and coffee plus was a real treat for the morning but the sugar bread was the real hit with the group! Would recommend to anyone.
